Meet Camp Aranzazu’s 2021 Activity Leaders

Angel is beginning his third year serving as an activity leader, and he can’t wait to see the returning campers and meet new ones this summer! As a veteran activity leader, Angel loves being able to sail and chat on Copano Bay with campers! In fact, Angel said he’s most excited to sail this summer because sailing with campers always helps him feel refreshed and reminds him of his purpose. And not only is Angel great on the water, but he’s also a fabulous cook — we have the virtual activities to prove it! We are so happy to have Angel back at Camp Aranzazu!

As a first-time activity leader, Hannah B. is looking forward to meeting all the wonderful campers at Camp Aranzazu! She’s most excited to see the campers use their creativity and express themselves through different art projects at camp. Hannah loves the beach so she’ll spend plenty of time on the waterfront soaking up the sun! Hannah loves to sing and dance, and we love that she’ll be dancing all summer long at camp!

Anna is another first-time activity leader who can’t wait to meet our campers and make friends all summer long! You can count on Anna to document all the joy she sees this summer with fabulous photos! Anna’s majoring in Therapeutic Recreation from Georgia Southern University and knows she’ll need plenty of water to get her through this summer in Rockport. Anna is most excited to see campers tackle the Challenge Course this summer and try new activities. Thanks for making your way to Texas to spend the summer with us!

We are thrilled to welcome Misty back for her fourth summer at Camp Aranzazu! As a returning activity leader, Misty can’t wait to see all the smiling faces of campers who missed coming to camp last summer. As an avid nature enthusiast, Misty can’t wait to share her love of the coast and all of the marvelous coastal creatures with our campers! She loves the excitement campers show when she teaches them about our environment. (Side note: she rescued sea turtles during the freeze this past winter — HOW COOL!) We can’t wait to see what campers learn from you this summer, Misty!

Meet another first-time activity leaders, Libby! Libby can’t wait to meet all the wonderful campers she’s heard so much about during training! To help stay cool in the Texas heat, Libby is most excited to see campers participate in swimming and fun water activities. In her down time, you can find Libby exploring local beaches and catching some rays. We know she’ll be missing her fluffy, orange cat named Henry, but we’re hoping she makes a friend or two in our nature hut this summer!

Alexis has just begun her first summer as an activity leader at Camp Aranzazu! She’s currently studying social work at the University of Texas and is looking forward to spending her summer laughing and smiling at camp! When she has a bit of free time, you can expect to find Alexis walking around catching Pokemon or learning how to roller skate! Alexis loves her Polaroid camera and can’t wait to capture some special moments this summer!

Welcome another first-time activity leader, Arnoldo! Arnoldo is excited to meet plenty of new people this year and get to know all our campers and partner staff members. As a camper himself, Arnoldo loved challenging himself on our Challenge Course, and he’s looking forward to helping this summer’s campers make their way through the course! Arnoldo’s twin sister, Alexis, is also working as an activity leader this summer!

Meet Katie Anne, another first-time activity leader! Katie Anne went to camp as a child and remembers how important camp can be in helping form lasting connections with peers. She’s most looking forward to helping all the campers challenge themselves and tackle different activities. Katie Anne even conquered her own fear of heights last summer while scaling mountains, so she’s excited to see campers on the Challenge Course!

Welcome, Maria, to your first summer at Camp Aranzazu! She’s currently studying Therapeutic Recreation at Grand Valley State University in Michigan and looking forward to all the fun she expects to have this summer! Camp Aranzazu is the perfect place for Maria to see therapeutic recreation in action and get to be outside in the Texas heat. When she’s not working or studying, you might find Maria hanging out in a hammock or rollerblading down a hill!

Raeann can’t contain her excitement for beginning her first summer as an activity leader at Camp Aranzazu! Raeann is looking forward to being able to spend the summer making memories with new people and eating plenty of smores under the stars in the Coastal Bend. She won’t miss a moment of fun this summer and will document all her memories with a disposable camera! Raeann is excited to teach campers how to hit the target in archery; she actually did archery in high school! Raeann will use her interest in theater to perform as much as possible for campers!

Welcome, Hannah H.! Hannah is beginning her first summer at camp and already looking forward to her first camp fire with campers! When asked what’s one item she couldn’t live without, she said her kazoo so be sure to ask her to play you a little tune. Hannah’s time at camp will be the perfect way for her to combine her love of the ocean (she’s a fish at heart) with her passion for therapeutic recreation. With Hannah on our team this summer, we know there will be tons of positive energy and lots and LOTS of laughs!

We’re excited to welcome Belle this summer as a first-time activity leader at Camp Aranzazu! She’s majoring in therapeutic recreation for Grand Valley State University and looking forward to seeing this form of therapy in action. When Belle isn’t having fun with campers, you can expect to find her reading an exciting novel or embroidering something beautiful!

Jenna is another first-time activity leader excited to spend the summer in Rockport! We’re excited to see Jenna use the skills she’s learned while majoring in therapeutic recreation at Grand Valley State University. Time spent at Camp Aranzazu will allow Jenna to combine her love of being active, camping and the beach all in one special summer experience!

Welcome to Camp Aranzazu, Taylon! As a first-time activity leader, Taylon is most looking forward to meeting campers and hopes to make a positive impact on their lives. Taylon couldn’t pick out just one favorite camp activity; she said she’s just hoping to get to know some fabulous campers and help them build their confidence and face their fears. Taylon is all about “trusting the process” so she’s simply excited to see what the summer brings and the path she’s being led down!

Welcome to your first summer at Camp Aranzazu, Sarah! Sarah is majoring in public health at the Georgia College & State University! She’s excited for a summer in Texas and can’t wait to spend time outside with campers. Sarah loves all things crossfit, cooking, baking and crocheting!

Thanks for choosing to spend your summer at Camp Aranzazu! We know it will be a summer to remember!
