Welcome to Camp Aranzazu’s blog!
Written by: Bianca Hernandez, Development Associate
I am so happy you took a couple of minutes out of your day to see what new project your favorite camp staff is tackling at Camp Aranzazu! As you may or may not know, Camp Aranzazu (pronounced Ah ran' zah zoo) is dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with special needs and chronic illnesses by providing unique camping, environmental education, and retreat experiences. Camping groups come from approximately 50 counties in Texas to enjoy our 104-acre, barrier-free facility on Copano Bay, near Rockport, Texas. Regardless of any physical or developmental limitations, everyone can fully participate in and enjoy all the typical camping activities at Camp Aranzazu.
We are starting this blog to, hopefully, give you a better insight into what happens every day at Camp Aranzazu and share even more stories about our campers and camp staff. I hope you can join in on the fun and learn more about Camp Aranzazu from the comfort of your own home!
Who is writing Camp Aranzazu’s blog articles?
The truth is our ENTIRE team will be contributing to our blog! Some days you might hear from me – Camp Aranzazu’s Development Associate. Other times, you might hear from our Camp Director, Amelia. We might even throw in resources from trusted friends, partners and organizations like the American Camp Association if we think it could be of value to you. In short, you’ll be hearing from many different people and we hope this helps you see all the different perspectives we have at camp and the love we all share for such a special place.
What can you expect from Camp Aranzazu’s blog articles?
Myself and the rest of the team are first-time bloggers and are just looking to give you an authentic behind-the-scenes look at the work we do at Camp Aranzazu. We hope to share updates on camp protocols and the adaptive recreation we offer, an in-depth guide to the new programs we’ve launched, highlights of our partner camps, research about camping that we find interesting, and many, MANY fun pictures of campers and our facilities.
Who should read Camp Aranzazu’s blog?
The short answer is anyone who is interested in what we do at Camp Aranzazu or the children and adults with special needs and chronic illnesses whom we serve! Whether you’re a parent/guardian of a camper, camper, potential activity leader, or simply someone who thinks camp does good work, I know we’ll end up writing a blog article just for you.
How often does camp plan to post new blog articles?
I hope camp is able to post at least once a week. As our staff learns more about blogging and fun ways to share our work with you, we might even post more often! While I’d love for you to regularly check this page, I’ll also share new blog posts on our Facebook page so you can follow along there too.
If there’s something you’re interested in or want to learn more about, feel free to let us know in the comments or message us on Facebook. In the midst of another interesting year, I hope we’re able to give you something to look forward to and help you learn a little more about the magical place our team loves. As always, thanks for supporting our incredible campers and making the work we love so much possible!
